A bit of history
The settlement on the site of the city of Al-Ain has been there for 4,000 years, this fact confirm the excavations in the Al-Heali places and at the foot of Mount Jabel Hafit, where the ancient tombs found. This locality was known as an oasis by Buraight.
Some significant historical events until the 20th century did not occur here. In the 7th century, the local population accepted Islam, according to the legend, Islam here brought Cub Al-Akhbar.

Mount Jabel Hafit

This is a unique place – the last remaining similar market in the UAE. Here they sell not only camels, but also bulls and sheep. the entrance is free. Opening hours: C 6-00 to 19-00. National Museum in Al-Ain
This is the first museum in the UAE, founded in 1969 by Sheikh Zait. The museum is located in Fort, which is called "Western" or "Sultansky". Here from 1910 to 1922, Saltan Bin-Zaid lived.
Artifacts are collected in the museum, clearly demonstrating the history of the Arab Emirates from the Stone Age to the independence of the UAE. The museum is divided into three expositions: archeology, ethnography and gifts.
At the exhibition of archeology, you can see the ancient ceramics, artifacts from the "Big Tomb in Hili" and the tombs in Al-Catatar. Copper and bronze objects were found in these tombs, which proves a high level of development of ancient cultures who once flourishing in this region.

But part of the museum is the most interesting for tourists – this is an exhibition of gifts. There is a stone from the moon, which NASA presented the Arab Emirates after the expedition Apollo 17. By the number of gifts Sheikh Zayd is greatly inferior to Leonid Yakubovich, but in terms of quality and cost of gifts Sheikh Zayd leads with a big advantage.
This is the largest zoo in the UAE. The numbers are impressive: 900 hectares of the area at the foot of the Mountain Jebel Hafit, 4000 animals, 180 species of animals are threatened with disappearance.

Built in 1891.
