Lithuanian remarkable – where to swim
Mother Nature has not awarded Lithuania variety of landscape. There are no mountains (the highest point – Hill Auchstoas 293m) or rocks with warm sea (in the summer in the Baltic Sea no more than 20 degrees). For this Lithuania received compensation in the form of stunning beauty of lakes and forests with countless berries and mushrooms. It’s time to pay attention to the Lithuanian swimming season.
Aukstati National Park
"Millen lakes" – Here’s how to briefly describe Aukstatiysky edge. Having been here, it became clear to us why half friends from the storage rooms look at boats and kayaks. Pines, spruce, pure water and measuring dusting is called here to relax from dusty office-planktonny everyday life. A civilized life here was born for a long time, as evidenced by the drained structures of the ancient Lithuans (rumored 8-9 thousand years before.NS.). I myself here lived a couple of years on mushrooms and berries, every day floating on Kayak, and in winter.. Winter can ski ride.
Previously, the park is called " National Park of the Lithuanian SSR", Since he became the first nat. Park in Lithuania in 1974. After 20 years, the park was assigned, in my opinion, a more logical name.
In addition to the lakes here in the summer, trillion mushrooms, berries and colors. A variety of birds and not only grazing graze on a soft green MCU, not disturbed by the sounds of civilization.
That’s what the beavers swayed next to us
There are many tracks in the park, where you can drive by car, but somehow embarrassing almost a virgin nature, so it is better to take advantage of a more environmentally friendly transport – bike or legs.
On such a moss not bad to put a couple of hours
Park 64 species of plants. 60% of all types of Lithuanian plants can be found on this small piece of the country
In addition to lakes and the beach, there is where to go. Aukstatiya (by lit. high) It was not named alone: there are hills and all sorts of remnants of glacial activity. One of them Ice Hill (Ledakalnis/Ledakalnis) from where you can see at once 7 lakes.
WITH Taurapilio (Taurapilio) The deepest is observed Lake Lithuania – Tauragonas (TauraGnas) – 60m. In the vicinity you can find the Museum of Ancient Beekeeping (Stripeikai), funny pagan wooden sculptures, water mill (in Ginuciai) and church. Ledakalnis – one lake from here is exactly visible
Ancient fortification structures are also crushed in the park – already mentioned Taurapilio
According to rumors in the local reserve Trainiskis Based very wild animals, mushrooms and 150-year-old pines. The entrance is possible only with the guide, but we never found the entrance :(.
Where to stay
- Can be in small sleepy Towns on the way to. Ideological and Tourist Partho Center – Place Palishe (Paluse).
- In equipped Camping – Signs can be seen from the roads. Usually camping is located on the lake. Special comfort there will be no – in stock Place for a tent, a place for a car yes toilet. It’s inexpensive, so Lithuanians love to rest in such places.
- My favorite way is in tent. Last time we have chosen a small lake on one of the secondary roads. It was one of the most picturesque places where we stayed! Around silence, no rugged drunks with kebabs and meson 5 km. Only mosquitoes are singing, but beavers accurate teeth about the collapsed trees. I think it’s not worth reminding, all the evidence of your presence should be destroyed or pick up with you. Burn fires, like being drunk, contraindicated, so it’s worth stocking burner and abandon fiery water.
How to get:
One of "Gifts" EU entry for Lithuania has become the closure of a single nuclear power plant – Ignalina (what happened in 2009). It was one of the conditions of entry, and the EU also launched that a new nuclear power plant would be built nearby, but already on modern standards. The promised three years is waiting for, the new station is still in ephemeral plans, and the old one stands -.
The station externally is not the Queen of beauty, so enjoying her species can only lovers of Sovish-trash. It is particularly contrasting that it looks in the context of a very picturesque lake (which also served as a cooling tank) and the surrounding forests. Nevertheless, the territory is not covered with a thick layer of garbage, as it would be, what happens to us. Perhaps this is due to the fact that there are still workers at the station, – the cauldron did not dismantle.
Almost on the border with Latvia near the park described above, another stronghold of Lithuanian water recreation – Zarasai. Despite the size of the city, the authorities do not save on improvement. This is especially noticeable when you go from Latvia – contrasts are. In the center built a large viewing platform, which could be worthy of any Norwegian attractions.
And here there was a poshorn in those days when Zarasai was called Novoaleksandrovsky.
Another amazing fact about the city for me was his coat of arms. Fish with deer head and sword. You can return and read this phrase again. It’s hard to assume that
Kurili meant the graphic designers, but nevertheless, the coat of arms of the terrain moves well. Fisheries are very developed here, and deer are available. Here with the identification of a sword of the problem, probably, the remnants of any teutons.
In Zarasa, every year in August is a wonderful ethno-rock metal festival Menuo Juodoragis (Black-legged month – that’s where the deer horn was useful). Venue – big island, accommodation – exclusively in tents, and cars are left at the entrance. For three days, we almost did not see the garbage, everything is very hot and noble, despite the fact that there are harsh comrades, drinking gallons of beer. Smokers even give special cases where to hide the cigarettes, not to litter, – no more commendable.

In childhood, when I heard the name of the Curonian Spit, I stubbornly ignored the letter "NS" in the title, and thought she was next to Kursk. Thank God, geographical cretinism passed, and I saw this preraized green-yellow strip of sushi.
According to Vika, this is the largest sandy body (in how!) enters the Baltic Sand Cords Complex, there are no analogues in the world.
Spit about 100 km long, and the width of the places is only up to 400m. One side she looks into the cool Baltic Sea, and the other in a fresh bay, so the color of the water and the temperature are different. Spit formed in 3r to NE. According to the alternative version, it accidentally accumulated the Giant Neurge, playing in the mythical sandbox. In the 9m century, the Vikings settled here (what Viking does not like to swim and soak on the sun bed), and then the Germans were glad to the 13m. Then they managed to raise a large number of forests on the spit, which opened the straight road to the deserts and the absorption of the dunes of coastal villages. In the 20th century, pine was soldered up to the MV1, and now the aroma of forest freshness is above the terrain. Interestingly, the Germans here detained for a long time, the latter were evacuated to Germany only at the end of the MV2. They were the only ones were carriers of the local adverb, and now his remnants can be heard only somewhere in Germany. From the Germans, neat houses, clean beaches and popularity among Deutsche Touristne remained on the spit. Funny to see a German braid card.
Curonian Spit – another object in the UNESCO register and the reserve. Here you can not burn bonfires, climb on incommunicate routes and spend the night where. For unauthorized tulatics finish 500 litas (140 euros).
Here Mecca Lithuanian summer holiday – clean nature, good beaches and very quiet.
Beaches are well equipped: in the presence of locker rooms, urns and volleyball courts. Entrance to the ball, which can not but rejoice!
Do not count on warm water even in the summer. But more pleasant to handle ashore (if there is no wind).
Despite the efforts of the conservation of the current state of the braid, the sands move on the meter per year. Everyone who went to walk through some dunes (and not laid along the dune track), guaranteed to bring the moment of sending braids to long-range swimming in Baltic.
Wood dune forest. There is no special diversity in the reserve, but some of interest can still be accumulated.
Dunes are full for every taste, if you can somehow distinguish the dunes. One of the most impressive is close to the border with Russia – Parnidis Dune (Parnidis). From here begins 2km Strolling road on the dune. For 40 years, Dune dropped on 20m, so it’s better from the track not to go.
Not far from the campsite on the partnership dunes can be seen Sunny calendar clock. In 99m Hurricane Slap This granite 12 meter pillar. Relatively recently, they still attached the missing part. Now he is a formidable finger in the sky towers on 52m, reminding that it is bad to joke with natural forces.
On Velomarshrute Nida Yodkrant, you can see the highest dune Vecekrugas, And after the Pervalka (Pervalka) wander around the reserve Nagliai.
Nida (Nida, Nidden.))
This is a kind of braid heart (located almost in the middle). German tourist here can be found more often than in the German resort (here is much cheaper), and many people come to look at the historic Eastern Prussia. Here are preserved pleasant little wooden houses.
In these places there were Thomas Mann (in the presence of the Memorial Museum), Jean Paul Sartre and Simon De Bawua.

Jodkrante (Juodkrante, Schwarzort.))
Pretty town with beautiful promenade. Who loves smoked fish – this is here, this smell, which is always with you.
Immediately located Amber Bay – The place where in large quantities in the 19m century was smelled from the sea amber. Apparently, they are typical, and now there is just beautiful and wicker horses with seagulls.
I don’t know what the witches were found in the Curonian Spit, but, judging by local sculptures, they were exclusively friendly and with an excellent sense of humor. In ancient times, there were pagan rites here, and in the 80s, there were carved wooden sculptures with materialized Lithuanian and international evil spirits. Behind them, for sure, they care well, – I can not imagine how they do not twist. It’s still good here to hide from the scorching sun and heat in the summer months. Great entertainment for kids. A small route on this mountain begins opposite the embankment in Yodkrante, on the right side of Yodkrant-Nida road.
"CI Hands Nicho not crawled"
Here the woman plays with a feature in the card. Surely, for the damn everything is not good ended
Theme of the devil is generally very relevant. Here is a recursive trait.
Even the shops approached creative
Along the same road near Yodkranta is located Overview platform "NEZDILS" Gray Herkel and Baklanov. It is easy to notice – a crowd of cars will be parked on a narrow road.
Baklans and Herons arrive here in February-March, and the offspring fruit to May. Most likely, after that they pack suitcases and move to more interesting resorts, because at the end of the summer we caught a bird waste. In addition to the above, there are also a woodpecker, starlats, frozards, so what kind of bird you can see.
Where to spend the night
Lithuanians try to spend the night not on the spit, but in Klaipeda and around because of the high cost. We do not know prices, but if you wanted to stop in the houses, I would definitely chose Spit. Comfort, romance, almost pristine nature guaranteed. Alternative hotels and BNB – camping. The only island on the island is in Nida (almost a quest for braids, close to the border with Russia). Prices there are rather big, but still it is cheaper than hotels. There are shower, tennis courts, picnic spaces. Camping is often scored, so it’s better to come in advance and stake. Here you can rent bikes. From Nida to Smiltina passes part of the European cycling route, On the way you can see romantic towns and hot dunes.
How to get
To get to Klaipeda by bus / car, and then cross on a five-minute ferry in Smiltyne (Smiltyne). Traveling by car, you must pay MZDU on the road (20 litas).
Zhemitei National Park
Not far from the Curonian Spit is a small nat. Park, which consists of one big lake and seven islands.
Zhemitei Park (Zemaitijos) A peculiar etymological antipode of the Aukstatii, because it translates as "short" or "lower" In contrast "High". Filling parks Similar is forests and lakes, and in both in the additive mosquitoes and a minimum of people.
Lake is called Payer (Plateliai). According to the legend at the bottom of Lake, the rich palace of a very capricious princess, who sank the curse from her own maman. Archaeologists, of course, cunning smile, but nevertheless do different finds. For example, in 2002, boats were pulled out from the bottom of the lake, which are dated to the times of Vitovt, so the lake is very promising to catch coins.
In the depths of the park hides underground base with ballistic missiles Plokshtine (Plok&# 353; Tin&# 279;). Do not be afraid that someone pallet, while you will have a kebab on the shore, – the base is abandoned. Metal collectors in the district rose well on the hand of the metal, and the museum about the Cold War opened on the spot.
In the district, there are several educational trails on which you can enjoy lake views and seek traces of birds \ animals. This information can be found in the head office of the park in the town of Swafy. From site – http: // www.zemaitijosnp.LT / RU /
Around the lake there are villages where you can stay, as well as places for tents, which are absolutely free.
