VI. Athens. Seven roots of one ticket – Athens, Greece – tourist blog

As already wrote above, approximately in the second half of the VI in. to N. NS. At Agore were erected by the temples of Apollo and Zeus Agoraten, the Altar of the Twelve Gods, the nine-total fountain – EnneAkrunos, created landscaped water pipelines. A little later: Booleuria (Board building), Mother of God’s temple, Gepesta temple. The remains of these structures were found by the archaeologists of the Millennium later.

In one day, I went to this area to witness the reverence of the Great Labor Archaeologists. From the creations of the architects in the territory of the ancient Agora almost nothing left, but the fact that it remained, it was necessary to dig up, gather on the bites, glue … in a word, collect history in parts, how to collect the smallest puzzles in one big picture. But also as an amateur of ancient history, make your own contribution to the development of the country’s archeology, leaving one of the reserves of the ticket at the entrance to the complex.

Of course, my contribution is negligible compared to the works of the American Archaeological School, which carried out the excavation on the territory of the ancient Agora about 30 years. During this time, Agora was completely cleared, removing the huge number of invaluable creations of geniuses and just artisans from her subsoil. The foundations of temples and public buildings were restored and strengthened, the modern tracks were laid, the trees were planted with slender rows. Ancient Agora gradually turned into an open-air museum. And, as it seemed to me, this museum complex also looks volume and majestically from the Hill of Areopag, as well as Hill itself and Acropolis from the territory of the Green Oasis Agora.

"Alive" from the past you can see only a few objects. One of them – Church of the Holy Apostles. This Byzantine Church, according to sources, was built in the 10th century. Therefore, today, it is one of the most ancient Christian temples located on the territory of Athens.

As the legend says, the Church of the Holy Apostles was partially built on the ruins of the Roman Kapiegie (a special place designed to install the statues of the gods depicting) and parts of an ordinary residential house, which was demolished specifically to free the place under the construction of the Church. It happened about the second century. In the middle of the last century, the church was renovated: the altar and the floor posted a new marble, updated the beautiful pattern on the outer walls and the preserved wall paintings inside the temple.

Walking on ancient agora – one pleasure. There are practically no tourists, stone tracks, wide, steps comfortable, greenery a lot, poultry twist. the beauty! And most importantly, I don’t take this beauty and not photograph … I decided to remove the "film" and in a matter of minutes I planted the battery. The experiment was clearly failed, but I now have the sounds of an ancient agor, for relax, for five and a half minutes.

While I tried to reanimate the camera at least for a couple of pictures, reached Stoa Atalla – High two-story building of the former shopping center. Once here boutiques were placed and lived trade. Today, there is a museum on the place of the outlets *, where the items found by archaeologists during the excavations of the ancient Agora are stored.

Pleased the walking area inside the stoi. Beautiful colonnade, comfortable benches, coolness. Resting, studied the exhibits in the "Hall" of the stories: a small piece of outdoor tiles with an ornament of those distant years, bends of bodies of brutal macho, built parallel to colonnade; I care about the brench lazy dog and finally "finished" the camera.

A visit to the museum spent a little more than an hour. In my case, this means "quickly-quickly sled". Exposure of interesting. Just such a number of time was enough to inspect. As it seemed to me, in the museum they tried to place almost everything that was found on the territory of Agora: products from ceramics and metal, shards, statues, coins, toys … from very, very ancient primitive to objects of the beginning of our era. Some "modern" products cling look, and the brain is not ready to count the Millennium back to take their real age.

"..It is impossible not to pay attention to the fact of the extraordinary artistic gifting of the people who created wonderful masterpieces of art, on his aggravated feeling of beautiful … ",- For the hundredth time I agree with this statement.

Then there was a parade procession around Temple Gefesta. Another monumental structure, and also with the "buscated" columns and the failed roof. Very impressive.

Well, to find and see what other significant attractions of Agora look like, you need to carefully begin to study information shields, because virtual objects also plead. I did not rush to find the altar of the twelve gods, the fountain of nine keys, the remains of the ancient sanctuary.

By visiting the once main trading area, walking through the elite area, having rested in a favorite place of citizens of the ancient city, I go to another point of the city – Hotel. It is necessary to charge the camera, go to the bazaar, buy products and have time to take a picture of the shift of the guard from the Presidential Palace before the darkness of the dark (or rain). In general, there is no time to bored.
